This entry is a continuation the previous one. I had a work assignment as a social worker to enter a house that was said to have: lice, fleas, bed bugs and roaches. The condition of the home is the main reason for the case. Help the direct the client on how to clean and organize the home. I drove up to the residence and was relieved to see that it was not in an area with high gang/drug activity. I walked up to the door and a girl greeted me. She confirmed she was my client. She accompanied me to her apartment on the top floor. I stepped into the tiny apartment, and noticed it was cluttered but mostly tidy. I gave my client bug traps and lysol wipes. I asked my client where the beg bug/flea infestations were in the apartment. She told me that the only infestation she has now is roaches. I was so relieved! Yes roaches are unsanitary but they don't jump onto your clothes, and are easier to see. I saw a few on top of the fridge. But it didn't cause any reaction in me. I was not in fear or completely disgusted. And the girl was really sweet and seemed motivated to keep her family together. She readily signed onto her program. She informed me her daughter starts daycare tomorrow. I can do one or two of my visits at the daycare, which is a relief to me as well. So all in all, the assignment isn't as bad as I imagined.
I emailed my client's DSS Worker to see what area of the house needs most attention for cleaning. She confirmed the roaches are breeding in the fridge. And that the home needs a deep cleaning. I contacted my client and requested she put a trap or two in the fridge. Hopefully I can stay in a place of peace when I do a home inspection on Monday, and you guessed it..... open the fridge. Light and Love ❤️
